COCONET: Application Form

EngageMedia, the Association for Progressive Communications (APC), and the Southeast Asian Press Alliance (SEAPA) along with key regional allies, will be hosting COCONET, a Southeast Asia Digital Rights camp, on October 22-26, 2017 in Bali or Yogyakarta, Indonesia. More information on the camp can be found here.

We're looking to gather 75-100 participants for the camp. Whilst Southeast Asia (Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam), is the key target, the event is also open to participants from other parts of Asia and the Pacific. Please note that scholarship support will prioritise applicants from Southeast Asia.

The following are highly encouraged to apply:

  • Activists working with grassroots communities with strong experience in using digital platforms
  • Activist technologists, open source advocates and digital security trainers
  • Internet Rights policy advocates
  • Researchers and academics
  • Social change media-makers including film-makers, journalists, bloggers, photographers, designers, and artists.

Please fill up and submit the form below if you are interested in attending COCONET. If you are on a slow or unstable connection, you are advised to keep a backup of your answers in a text document.

The deadline for applications is 10 August 2017. Successful applicants will be notified by 28 August 2017.

Start with your country code. This is to ensure we are able to contact you should you be selected to attend.
*Please propose sessions related to your field of expertise – whether it be film, media, arts, digital rights, policy advocacy, campaigning, research, etc.

Participation fee and scholarships

To assist with covering costs, COCONET has a scaled participation fee.

National organization - USD 100
Regional organization - USD 250
Funders/International NGOs - USD 400

We are also providing full and partial scholarships to cover accommodation, meals and flights for participants from Southeast Asia.
